Samsung adds post-recording My FanCam to Galaxy Z Fold8 video tools
Samsung's new My FanCam lets users reframe recorded videos around a chosen person, turning wide shots into tighter tracking clips.
Samsung unveiled My FanCam as part of the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Fold8 Ultra lineup, offering a post-capture video editing tool that tracks a selected person throughout a clip. The function resides in the Gallery app; after opening a video, users tap the Galaxy AI icon, choose My FanCam, let the AI locate subjects, pick the desired person, set a preferred aspect ratio and press Follow to generate a reframed video. This approach differs from the real-time Auto framing feature by allowing a wider initial shot and later focusing on any individual, though it cannot add visual information that was not originally recorded.
Samsung notes that the feature may not be available on all One UI 9 devices and that tracking accuracy is not guaranteed, especially if the subject leaves the frame. The tool is aimed at casual creators filming events like performances, sports or group dances who want flexibility in post-production.
Why it matters
It gives Galaxy users more flexibility to edit videos and highlight subjects after filming.
