Samsung and SK hynix to unveil Q3 results amid AI memory chip boom
Samsung Electronics and SK hynix will release their third-quarter earnings this week, with AI-driven memory demand expected to lift profits.
South Korea’s leading semiconductor producers, Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, are set to publish their third-quarter financial results this week, with SK hynix reporting on Wednesday and Samsung on Thursday. Market estimates put their combined operating profit at roughly 185 trillion won, driven by robust pricing for memory chips and growing demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) used in artificial-intelligence accelerators.
Samsung previously projected Q3 revenue of 195 trillion won and an operating profit of 107.4 trillion won in its preliminary guidance. Investors will focus on the companies’ capacity to deliver next-generation HBM4 chips for Nvidia’s AI accelerators, including the Vera Rubin platform. SK hynix is also expected to post strong earnings from both conventional memory and advanced HBM products. In a related move, SK hynix said it has suspended plans to list its U.S. subsidiary Solidigm, citing market conditions and shareholder concerns.
