Samsung E&A Secures $3.5 Billion Fertilizer Plant Contract in Saudi Arabia

Samsung E&A Co. disclosed that it has been awarded a 4.7 trillion-won (US$3.5 billion) engineering, procurement and construction contract for a new fertilizer facility in Saudi Arabia. The deal, signed with SABIC Agri-Nutrients, covers the SAN-7 project in Jubail Industrial City and is expected to be finished by 2030. Once operational, the plant will generate 3,500 tons of ammonia and 7,700 tons of urea fertilizer each day, with the entire production earmarked for export markets.

A key feature of the design is a carbon-capture system that will reuse carbon dioxide from the ammonia process to produce urea, thereby reducing greenhouse-gas emissions and improving overall efficiency. Samsung E&A highlighted the contract as a major step in expanding its global EPC portfolio. The announcement was made via a regulatory filing.
