Samsung Electronics breaks ground on new HVAC factory in Gwangju

Samsung Electronics inaugurated a groundbreaking event in the southwestern city of Gwangju to launch a large-scale HVAC production line covering 21,500 square meters. The company will invest roughly 240 billion won (US$173 million) to build the facility, which will manufacture products from FlaktGroup Holding GmbH, a German ventilation firm bought by Samsung in the previous year. Roh Tae-moon, co-CEO of Samsung and head of its device experience division, said the new line represents a key milestone for the firm’s growing HVAC business.

The plant is slated to become operational in 2028 and is expected to strengthen Samsung’s global output of advanced cooling and centralized HVAC systems. The expansion responds to rapidly rising demand for cooling solutions in AI-focused data centers. Samsung hopes the project will solidify its position in the international HVAC market.
