Samsung Heavy Industries lands 1.65 trillion-won contract for four LNG carriers and two oil tankers

Samsung Heavy Industries Co. disclosed that it has secured a 1.65 trillion-won (US$1.22 billion) contract to construct four large liquefied natural gas carriers and two oil tankers for an unnamed Oceania-based customer. The agreement was reported in a recent regulatory filing. With this addition, the South Korean shipbuilder’s cumulative orders for 2026 now total $11.7 billion, representing 84 % of its annual target.

So far in 2026, Samsung Heavy has booked contracts worth $7.3 billion for 42 commercial vessels, including 18 LNG carriers. The new order also follows two floating LNG production, storage and offloading facilities valued at $4.4 billion. This deal underscores the firm’s strong position in the global LNG and tanker markets.
