Samsung refreshes Galaxy Tab S lineup with upgraded Plus model and modest Ultra update

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Tab S12 series, giving the two-year-old Tab S10 Plus a substantial upgrade while the Ultra version sees only incremental changes.

Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab S12 lineup, splitting the refresh between a heavily upgraded Plus model and a largely unchanged Ultra variant. The Tab S12 Plus upgrades the 12.6-inch OLED panel, making it brighter and a bit larger, while slimming the device and installing a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chip that is two generations newer than the prior 9300 Plus. Battery capacity rises to 10,600 mAh, and the base price climbs to $1,199.

The Tab S12 Ultra, meanwhile, mirrors the previous year’s 14.6-inch OLED screen, 11,600 mAh battery and 5.1 mm thickness, with only a yearly processor upgrade and four-channel spatial audio added, now priced at $1,399. Both models retain IP68 water-dust resistance, 1,600-nit peak brightness, and a promise of seven years of Android updates, and they include an S Pen and a six-month exclusive of Adobe Photoshop for tablets. Availability begins on October 7.
