Samsung's M16 LTPO OLED panel promises ultra-bright, power-saving screens for Apple and others

Samsung Display unveiled its M16 LTPO OLED panel, which Apple will use in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo, offering up to 10,000-nit peak brightness and lower power draw.

Samsung Display announced its latest LTPO OLED smartphone panel, the M16, which Apple plans to integrate into the iPhone 18 Pro and the new iPhone Duo series. The panel boasts a peak brightness of up to 10,000 nits, achievable in limited screen areas for short periods, and incorporates LEAD 2.0 technology that enhances colour fidelity while using roughly 30 % less power than the earlier M14 module. Flicker is further reduced thanks to a 3,300 Hz pulse-width-modulation dimming system.

Technical specifications include a WQHD resolution of 2,560 × 1,440 pixels, a variable refresh rate ranging from 1 to 165 Hz, and a touch-sampling capability of up to 5,000 Hz. The panel also features an anti-reflective, polarizer-free design that embeds RGB or direct-light filters within the OLED material. Beyond Apple devices, Samsung expects the M16 to be fitted in the upcoming iQOO 16 handset and anticipates its inclusion in future Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra models.
