Samsung unveils smaller, longer-lasting Galaxy SmartTag 3 with iPhone compatibility

Samsung’s latest Bluetooth tracker, the Galaxy SmartTag 3, arrives with a squircle shape that eliminates the key-ring cutout, requiring a separate case for key attachment. Weighing 33% less and measuring 35% smaller than the SmartTag 2, it consumes 10% less power, extending its CR2032 battery life to 550 days normally or 790 days in power-saving mode. For the first time the tracker works with iPhones, and Samsung hopes it will facilitate shared tracking among relatives or pet-care providers rather than directly challenge Apple’s AirTag.

The SmartTag 3 uses Samsung’s Galaxy Find Network and, when within 200 ft, combines UWB and Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding for precise location on compatible phones. It carries an IP67 rating, ships in black and white, and will be sold in South Korea from October 7 and in the United States in early November for $29.99 per unit or $99.99 for a four-pack.
