A private ceremony for Sandro Mazzola was held at Milan's Basilica di Sant’Ambrogio, drawing hundreds of fans and notable football personalities.
Sandro Mazzola’s funeral was conducted in a strictly private setting at the Basilica di Sant’Ambrogio in Milan, beginning in the early afternoon. Outside the church, a crowd of nerazzurri supporters displayed a banner honoring his legacy. Among the attendees were FIGC president Giovanni Malagò, former Inter and national team greats Javier Zanetti and Giuseppe Bergomi, and Inter president Beppe Marotta, who highlighted Mazzola’s role as a model for youth values.
Milan president Paolo Scaroni recalled watching Mazzola play alongside Rivera and praised the applause despite the somber day. Juventus representatives AD Carnevali and sporting director Massara were also applauded after distancing themselves from a recent fan protest. Roberto Mancini, coaching the Italian national side, issued a brief statement joining the sporting community in mourning.
