Santander teams up with Sibstar to aid customers facing financial vulnerability
Santander has formed a partnership with fintech firm Sibstar to refer customers who need extra help managing their money, especially those with dementia, learning disabilities or health concerns.
Santander announced a collaboration with the financial-technology company Sibstar to provide targeted support for customers who may struggle with everyday spending due to dementia, learning disabilities, health conditions or concerns about scams. The bank will refer such customers to Sibstar, which runs a dedicated debit card and mobile app for a monthly charge of £4.99 and a matching set-up fee, though enrollment remains optional.
Once referred, a member of Sibstar’s team will reach out to assist with onboarding, and the card can be funded directly from a Santander current account. Graeme Cumming, head of vulnerable customer strategy at Santander UK, highlighted the aim of preserving financial independence while giving families reassurance. Sibstar’s founder Jayne Sibley and investor Sara Davies emphasized the product’s potential to bring peace of mind to many families, with support from the Alzheimer’s Society’s chief executive Michelle Dyson.
Why it matters
The partnership offers a specialised tool to protect financially vulnerable people and ease family concerns about money management.
