SAP consultant salaries in DACH region advertised up to 12% higher than final offers
A recruitment firm says SAP consultant job postings in Germany, Austria and Switzerland list salaries 10-12% above the amounts eventually offered to hired candidates.
Research by Core Tech Recruitment indicates that SAP consultant advertisements in Germany, Austria and Switzerland routinely overstate salary expectations by 10 to 12 percent compared with the eventual contracts. A senior role advertised at €87,000-€115,000 typically results in an offer of €79,000-€104,000, and a Business Warehouse specialist sees a similar reduction. Owner Carl Weaver explains that recruiters and corporate talent managers deliberately set high bands, knowing candidates will negotiate down.
He also notes that many applicants start with inflated demands, expecting a haggling process, and that most candidates accept lower offers after investing weeks in the interview cycle. The discrepancy reflects a broader market practice where advertised figures often represent total packages or ideal candidate ceilings rather than guaranteed pay.
Why it matters
Job seekers and employers need realistic salary expectations to avoid mismatched negotiations in the competitive SAP market.
