Saransh Jain honors late father with emotional Test debut in Colombo

Saransh Jain stepped onto the field for India’s Test side against Sri Lanka in Colombo, marking his entry as the nation’s 320th Test player. The 33-year-old all-rounder replaced Kuldeep Yadav and immediately reflected on his father Subodh, whose fight with mouth cancer and encouragement kept Jain in the sport. After a period of limited Ranji opportunities, Jain flourished under coach Chandrakant Pandit, building a solid domestic record that secured his selection.

Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja handed him the cap, advising him to stay relaxed and view the Test as another First-Class contest. Jain thanked his family and vowed to continue playing in honor of his father’s memory.
