Sarawak Police says post-mortems still pending for all five FDS crash victims

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah confirmed that forensic examinations are still underway for all five victims of the Flying Doctor Service helicopter accident near Long Lellang. The badly burnt and incomplete remains are being processed at Hospital Miri’s Forensic Department, which has slowed the work. After the examinations, DNA will be extracted and forwarded to the Chemistry Department in Kuching for definitive identification, after which the bodies can be handed to the relatives.

The deceased include pilot Captain Zainol Afiq Bee Sham, medical officer Dr Ainul Baraah Kamaruddin, medical assistant Alexson Adit Henry and nurses Debra Moset and Jessie Paya Jok. The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia reported that a BO-105 aircraft crashed close to the Long Lellang Short Take-Off and Landing Airport. The forensic area remains closed to outsiders and no family members have been observed at the hospital.
