Sarawak police seek Interpol assistance to apprehend suspects in store attacks

Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah announced that three individuals have been detained and roughly ten additional suspects are being pursued for a series of convenience-store attacks in Kuchong and Sri Aman. The attacks, carried out on September 20, involved throwing devices suspected to contain explosives or flammable material and are thought to be linked to a dispute over the sale of top-up cards used for online gambling.

Police intend to request Interpol’s assistance to locate suspects who have left the country and will write to local authorities about alleged licence violations by the stores. Zainal also updated that investigators are nearing completion of the inquiry into the Air Medical Services helicopter crash in Long Lellang, with no evidence of sabotage found so far. The investigation’s final findings will be released by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau.
