Satellite images reveal 80-metre luxury yacht with pool near Kim Jong Un's seaside villa
Satellite photos have repeatedly shown an 80-metre luxury yacht with a 50-metre pool and water slides operating off Wonsan’s coast near Kim Jong Un’s summer villa.
Satellite imagery captured an 80-metre luxury yacht equipped with a 50-metre pool and multiple water-slide installations cruising off Wonsan, close to the summer villa used by Kim Jong Un. The craft remained idle in a maintenance facility before being relocated in early July to the Kalma Peninsula, where it has been repeatedly spotted through mid-October. Several other large vessels have also been identified near the villa, and experts believe they serve the leader’s family, a view supported by former Office 39 official Ri Jong Ho, who noted the seasonal pattern of storing ships in winter and deploying them for swimming and recreation in summer.
While the exact value of the yacht is unknown, similar vessels range from tens of millions to over a hundred million dollars; a smaller 29-metre yacht owned by Kim was previously valued at about seven million dollars. The observations highlight the regime’s secretive wealth amid UN reports of severe human-rights abuses and chronic food shortages affecting roughly 40 % of the population.
