Saudi Arabia shifts Future Investment Initiative to hybrid format after recent attacks
Saudi officials will allow remote participation at the Future Investment Initiative conference following deadly attacks on Riyadh airport and a Saudi Aramco facility.
The kingdom plans to run its flagship Future Investment Initiative as a hybrid event, giving executives the option to join online after a weekend of violent incidents. While some attendees may still travel to Riyadh via alternative airstrips or neighboring Gulf states, the change aims to preserve investor interest amid rising tensions with the Houthis. An administrative building at Saudi Aramco’s Dhahran headquarters was also struck, though the Energy Ministry reported no casualties.
Why it matters
The shift to a hybrid format shows how security threats can reshape major investment events and affect global capital flows.
