Saudi-backed €6 billion Dragon Ball Z amusement park slated for Paris outskirts

In a ceremony attended by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and President Emmanuel Macron, France and Saudi Arabia agreed to develop a €6 billion Dragon Ball Z themed amusement park near Cergy-Pontoise, northwest of Paris. The venture, backed by Saudi entertainment and investment firm Qiddiya, is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to diversify its economy beyond oil. French officials highlighted the project as a sign of the country’s appeal to foreign capital, noting an estimated 22,000 jobs will be created.

The idea traces back to a 2025 encounter between Macron and the crown prince, where they bonded over the popular Japanese series. The sprawling development will comprise three separate parks, though details on layout and timeline remain unsettled, and no opening date has been set. Construction is expected to take several years.
