Saudi crude increasingly shipped via Red Sea and Egypt's Sumed pipeline
Saudi Arabia has boosted crude shipments through the Red Sea and Egypt's Sumed pipeline, raising daily volumes to over 1.9 million barrels in August.
The kingdom is redirecting more oil northward, using the Red Sea corridor and the Sumed pipeline to reach global markets. Export volumes on the Sumed route rose from under 650,000 barrels per day in June to more than 1.9 million barrels in August, with Saudi crude making up the bulk of the flow. Saudi Aramco is also working to enhance flexibility across its three export pathways, and analysts note that expanding the East-West pipeline could further increase capacity.
