Saudi-led coalition reports interception of cruise missile and multiple drones

The Saudi-led coalition said it shot down a cruise missile over western Medina and destroyed three drones in separate incidents across the kingdom.

Spokesman Major General Turki al-Maliki stated that a cruise missile was intercepted over western Medina, though details on its origin or target were not provided. He later confirmed the destruction of a drone over Khamis Mushait and another drone launched toward the southern region, adding that a separate drone had been neutralized in the Eastern Province earlier. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree rejected claims that his group carried out any attacks on Saudi territory that day.

The coalition previously accused the Houthis of a drone strike on the Taibah electricity distribution station in Medina, which disabled a transformer but left the grid functional. It also reported that multiple Saudi airports had been hit in recent weeks, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries.

Why it matters

The interceptions show ongoing aerial tensions between Saudi Arabia and Yemen's Houthi forces, affecting regional security.
