Save the Children distributes pamphlet urging migrants to claim minor status in Ceuta

In the wake of a large influx of undocumented migrants into Ceuta, Save the Children began distributing an informational flyer that explains how migrants can claim the legal presumption of being under 18 years old. The pamphlet states that minors have the right to remain in Spain and may be offered legal and medical assistance, while also noting that they can choose to consent to or decline age-determination examinations.

Catalina Perazzo, Save the Children’s director of Influence and Territorial Development, argued that any doubt should favor the minor-status presumption to protect vulnerable children. The leaflet’s content was verified by the NGO, which said it only summarizes rights already established in Spanish and European law. Public funding data reveal that Save the Children has been granted multiple subsidies amounting to several million euros each year since 2022.
