According to Save the Children, Israeli military operations have killed about seven children daily in Lebanon since March. The organization records a total toll of at least 4,300 dead and over 12,000 wounded in the past six months, with children accounting for 257 deaths and 1,039 injuries. Despite several cease-fire arrangements, Israeli forces continue to target civilian infrastructure, endangering youngsters.
At the conflict's peak, more than one million residents fled southern Lebanon, and over 348,800 still cannot go back, per UN OCHA data. Hezbollah and Israel resumed cross-border strikes after the October 7 attacks, and cease-fire attempts in November 2024 and June have largely collapsed. Save the Children warns that damaged schools—340 identified by Lebanon’s Ministry of Education—could leave up to 100,000 children without schooling unless repairs are made.
