SBiH surges in election, while DF and Our Party see sharp losses
The latest election gave the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina a major boost in votes and seats, whereas the Democratic Front and Our Party suffered notable declines.
Election data show the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina (SBiH) emerging as the biggest winner, with its leader Semir Efendić receiving 141,315 votes (25.63%) for the BiH Presidency. The party now holds three seats in the national House of Representatives, nine in the Federation Parliament, and expanded its cantonal presence, gaining seats in Sarajevo, Zenica-Doboj, USK, Posavina and Canton 10. In contrast, the Democratic Front experienced a steep decline, losing its Presidency representation and seeing its leader Željko Komšić fall short of a parliamentary seat; its federal mandates fell from twelve to six and cantonal seats were reduced in Sarajevo, Tuzla, USK and Goražde.
Our Party also recorded a poor performance, with Sabina Ćudić winning the only national mandate and the party’s vote total dropping to 30,316, while its cantonal seats fell in Sarajevo and USK, though it retained a presence in Tuzla. Overall, the results reshuffle the balance of power at both the state and cantonal levels.
Why it matters
The shifts in party strength will influence coalition building and policy direction in Bosnia and Herzegovina's government.
