Science Ministry files criminal complaint over delayed e-property registry project

Hungary's Science and Technology Ministry announced a criminal complaint over the electronic land-registry system known as e-ING, which was proclaimed finished but remains largely non-functional. The project, fully financed by EU funds, is alleged to suffer from serious shortcomings and cost overruns. The ministry alleges offenses including budget fraud, improper handling of private documents and failure to meet oversight obligations, and asks authorities to determine whether crimes occurred and who bears responsibility.

The contract, originally signed in 2019, involved TIGRA Kft. and its subcontractor 4iG, with substantial public funding allocated. The European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) has also opened its own probe into the matter. Officials say they will work to complete the system and restore the promised functionalities.
