Science Ministry launches criminal probe into overpriced contracts and dubious expenditures
The Science and Technology Ministry filed a criminal complaint over inflated contracts and questionable spending, including luxury items, uncovered during its audit.
A review by the Science and Technology Ministry uncovered multiple issues, prompting a criminal complaint for alleged mismanagement and inflated costs. The audit flagged contracts with DATRAK Kft. and Sagemcom Magyarország Kft., numerous transfers to YAZOO-Systems, and suspicious IT procurement deals by Pro-M, all raising questions about duplicate payments and market-based pricing. The ministry also scrutinized the National Data Asset Agency’s accounts, which listed expenses for hotel rooms, jewelry, gin, premium food and an adult board game, questioning their relevance to state duties.
A separate case involves a consultant for the Digital Government Agency who may have received a monthly gross salary of 3.9 million for 40 months. The total value of the examined contracts and payments approaches 20 billion forint.
