Sea Limited to spin off Monee via IPO and launch AI-focused Sea Cloud platform
Sea Limited announced plans to list its financial services unit Monee on a stock exchange and to introduce an AI-first enterprise platform called Sea Cloud.
Sea Limited disclosed that it intends to take its financial services arm, Monee, public, believing that a stock-market listing will provide the resources and flexibility needed for faster expansion. Founder Forrest Li communicated the plan in a memo to staff, noting that Monee offers mobile wallets, payment processing, credit and banking products in eight markets, including Singapore and Brazil. The same memo announced the rollout of Sea Cloud, an AI-first platform designed for enterprise clients.
Li also pointed out that the group's quarterly revenue has surged to US$7.8 billion, representing an over 80-fold growth since its initial public offering in New York nine years ago. Sea Limited has not responded to requests for comment on the upcoming IPO or the new AI venture.
Why it matters
The IPO could raise significant capital for Sea's fintech expansion and signals a major push into AI services in Asia and beyond.
