Search continues for missing pilot Bob Bramley after crash near Groote Eyelandt

Northern Territory police are still looking for Tasmanian pilot Bob Bramley, whose plane went down in the Gulf of Carpentaria on Tuesday.

The crash occurred near the remote island of Groote Eyelandt, and rescuers have recovered fragments of the aircraft. Bad weather and the isolated location have slowed the effort. Police divers are scheduled to sweep the seabed on Thursday, while local rangers and helicopters support land and aerial searches.

Why it matters

The search highlights the challenges of rescue missions in remote, weather-affected Australian waters.
