Search for missing Isle of Lewis fishing crew halted as authorities await new leads

A fishing vessel named Kilda disappeared on Tuesday night off the north coast of the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. The body of 49‑year‑old Douglas Craigie was recovered early Wednesday, while crew members Norman Murray, 40, and Murdo Morrison, 23, remain missing. The RNLI dispatched its all‑weather lifeboat from Lochinver and the HM Coastguard coordinated aircraft, helicopters, rescue teams and a local vessel in the effort.

Police Scotland received the missing‑boat report late Tuesday and confirmed the vessel had left the Brevaig area around 7.30 am before heading to Port of Ness. The search has now been halted pending new leads.
