Search intensifies for autistic 12-year-old missing in Granollers amid storms

Catalan police and fire crews are conducting a wide-area search for Rami, a 12-year-old autistic boy who vanished early Sunday in Granollers during severe thunderstorms.

In the early hours of Sunday, 4 October, 12-year-old Rami, who has autism, disappeared from his home in Granollers, Barcelona province, after being startled by a severe thunderstorm. The Mossos d'Esquadra, together with the regional fire service Bombers de la Generalitat, have expanded their search perimeter despite localized flooding and transport interruptions. Police have released a description—1.73 m tall, dark-skinned, stocky, short curly hair, wearing a turquoise T-shirt and orange shorts—and urged anyone with information to call 112.

While the storm caused widespread damage and two unrelated deaths in Tordera and Montornès del Vallès, officials say the boy’s disappearance is not linked to floodwaters. President of the Generalitat Salvador Illa called the case a tragic personal situation unfolding alongside the broader emergency. Simultaneously, crews are searching for a young man in Pineda de Mar who fell into a swollen ravine, highlighting the region’s ongoing weather-related challenges.
