Search launched for Belgian tourist missing after Cuillin hike on Skye
A 45-year-old Belgian visitor, Hector Patemore, vanished while attempting a walk in the Cuillin mountains on the Isle of Skye and is now being sought by Police Scotland.
Police Scotland are conducting an urgent search for Hector Patemore, a 45-year-old Belgian tourist who disappeared while hiking in the Cuillin range on the Isle of Skye. He was last seen at about 10.45 am on 13 September as he departed the Glen Brittle youth hostel in Torrin to ascend Sgurr Na Banachdich and descend through Coire Na Banachdich. The missing hiker failed to return to the hostel and was formally reported missing around 10.25 pm that night.
Police describe him as a white male, 6 ft 4 in tall, slim, with a shaved head and stubble, dressed in a red jacket, mustard hooded top, hat, and a rucksack. Sergeant David Mockett noted that Patemore is an experienced hillwalker and the planned route is relatively easy, yet concerns for his wellbeing are increasing. The force is appealing for information from any walkers who were in the area on Sunday, 13 September, and asks tips to be sent to the non-emergency line, quoting incident 3692 of September 13.
