Search teams hunt for missing Russian tourist near Bali’s Tanjung Mebulu cliffs
A 40-year-old Russian man, G. Artem, was reported missing near the Tanjung Mebulu cliffs in Pecatu, prompting Basarnas to send a seven-person rescue team.
On Saturday, the Bali National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) announced that seven personnel from its Denpasar Search and Rescue Office were dispatched to the cliffs of Tanjung Mebulu in Pecatu Village, Badung Regency, after a colleague reported that 40-year-old Russian citizen G. Artem had been out of contact since September 23. The operation covers the steep coastline and the adjacent Karang Boma cliffs, where police later recovered an abandoned motorcycle and helmet, providing an early lead.
Coordination involves the South Kuta Sector Police and the Pecatu Village Trustee Non-Commissioned Officer (Babinsa). By the afternoon, no additional evidence or the missing individual had been located. Basarnas officials said the team will continue to adjust the search area based on any new information. The incident raises concerns about tourist safety in Bali’s popular coastal zones.
