Search teams locate 11 additional bodies, total of 172 people found after Java Sea ship sinking

A joint diving team recovered 11 more bodies from the wreckage site in the Java Sea, increasing the tally of located persons to 172 of the 243 on the ship's manifest. Basarnas head Mohammad Syafii said the latest official count includes 108 survivors, 64 deceased and 71 missing. The bodies were taken aboard the SAR Pacitan, moved to the warship KRI Gusti Ngurah Rai and then airlifted by a Panther 1311 helicopter to Sjamsudin Noor Air Base for identification.
Additional remains were found by the Palangka Raya SAR Office in Central Kalimantan waters, including four in Sukamara Regency, two in Seruyan Regency and one in the Branch River near Pangkalan Bun. All recovered remains are undergoing formal identification before being returned to families. Authorities said search efforts will continue around the primary site and surrounding areas.
