Sebastien Pocognoli emerges as leading candidate to succeed Steve Clarke for Scotland
Sebastien Pocognoli, the former Monaco manager and recent Belgian league champion, is the favourite to take over Scotland's national team after Steve Clarke's exit.
The Scottish Football Association is reportedly leaning toward appointing 39-year-old Sebastien Pocognoli as the next head coach of the men's side. Pocognoli guided Union Saint-Gilloise to the Belgian league title last season and has been unattached since leaving Monaco in June. He previously played for West Brom and spent a loan spell at Brighton a decade ago. Steve Clarke stepped down following Scotland's group-stage elimination at the World Cup.
Why it matters
Scotland's next coach will shape the team's direction after a World Cup exit.
