Second batch of August Social Security checks to be mailed in three days

The Social Security Administration announced that the second installment of August benefits will be issued on Wednesday, Aug. 19, covering retirees born between the 11th and 20th of each month. This distribution comes three days after the announcement and follows the initial round on Aug. 12 for those with birthdays on the 1st through 10th. A final round is set for Aug. 26 for beneficiaries born on the 21st or later.

Monthly checks are limited to a maximum of $5,181, with lower amounts for those retiring at younger ages. The agency provides an online calculator for individuals to estimate their specific benefit. Funding for the program relies on payroll taxes, and trustees warn the fund could be depleted by 2032 without congressional action.
