Second storm in two days forces orange alert in Luxembourg, 64 emergency calls in Brussels

After storms Austen and Boelo, Belgium remained under a yellow wind warning while Luxembourg province was placed on orange alert, and Brussels fire services responded to 64 incidents.

Following the consecutive impacts of storms Austen on Friday and Boelo on Saturday, the Institut Royal Météorologique maintained a yellow warning for wind and rain across Belgium. The province of Luxembourg was placed under an orange alert for the same hazards until Sunday late morning, while the coastal region remained on yellow until 22:00, expecting gusts of 70-80 km/h. The institute also issued a storm surge warning for the maritime Escaut basin.

Brussels fire services recorded 64 interventions from Saturday 18:00 to Sunday morning, including 39 flood-related calls, 13 for broken branches or toppled trees, and 12 for objects displaced by the wind. Four incidents were still being addressed, and authorities urged the public to stay alert for unstable items, damaged roofing, and weakened trees, directing non-urgent requests to the 1722.be electronic service.
