Second suspect charged in Sydney gang-related shooting that left one dead

On May 19, five men were inside a residence in Canley Heights when two attackers fired indiscriminately, killing a 28-year-old and wounding four others. The injured were rushed to Liverpool Hospital and Fairfield Hospital, receiving treatment for gunshot wounds to the neck, shoulder and arm. A 23-year-old was initially charged with murder, and a second suspect, a 37-year-old, was arrested in Silverwater and charged with murder, unlawful possession of a prohibited weapon and participation in a criminal group.

He remains in custody pending a court appearance. Police are examining whether the victim had ties to a Sydney crime gang, though officials have not confirmed any gang affiliation. Taskforce Falcon, established to combat gangland violence, and the homicide squad are handling the case. Local police commander Craig Middleton described the attack as a brazen act of violence against five people in their home.
