Section of Prithvi Highway near Gajuri collapses, halting all traffic
A 20-metre stretch of the Prithvi Highway near Gajuri sank, prompting officials to stop all vehicles on the road.
Traffic on the Prithvi Highway was fully suspended after a section near Galaundi, close to Gajuri in Dhading district, collapsed on Friday night. The failure created a 20-metre depression, while cracks extended across nearly 100 metres of the pavement, reaching the road's edge. Shishir Thapa, head of the district traffic police, warned that the damage raises the risk of further subsidence and possible landslides.
To prevent potential accidents, police ordered all vehicles to stop moving along the affected stretch. Thapa added that only a team of technical experts can assess the condition and determine when the road might be safe to reopen. No further details on repair timelines were provided.
