Sector 4 launches permanent street-monitoring patrols to boost public safety

Mayor Daniel Băluță announced a new permanent "monitorizare stradală" patrol system in Sector 4, slated to start as a pilot within two months to deter unsafe behavior.

In response to community worries about public safety, especially for schoolchildren, Mayor Daniel Băluță unveiled a permanent "monitorizare stradală" patrol structure for Sector 4, with a pilot expected to launch within two months. He highlighted recent consultations with residents, the Municipal Police chief, and local police leaders, confirming that the patrols will coordinate with the National Police and DIICOT. The city is actively recruiting staff, noting the difficulty of finding qualified candidates.

Citizen-submitted video footage has been valuable for DIICOT investigations, and the sector currently operates 700 surveillance cameras. Băluță emphasized that the new system will operate under a central dispatch, forming a hierarchical network with existing police forces to discourage disruptive activities and protect families.
