Securitisation volumes surge 42% to record ₹1.47 trillion in H1 FY27
Securitisation activity jumped 42% year-on-year to a record ₹1.47 trillion in the first half of FY27, led by gold loan and vehicle loan deals.
Securitisation volumes in H1 FY27 reached a historic ₹1.47 trillion, up 42% from the previous year, according to ICRA estimates. The surge was anchored by a strong performance in gold loan securitisation and a revival of vehicle loan transactions, especially in the July-September quarter where volumes hit ₹86,000 crore. Vehicle loans accounted for about one-third of total securitisation, up from 25% in the earlier quarter, as some lenders returned to the market and increased sell-downs.
Other asset classes, including mortgage, small business and micro-loans, each contributed roughly 12-15% of the total. The growth was evenly split between pass-through certificates and direct assignments, and continued reliance on securitisation by NBFCs supported the expansion.
Why it matters
The record-high securitisation volume signals strong demand for alternative financing in India's loan market.
