Security forces sweep Poonch’s frontier villages in search for terror suspects
Joint cordon-and-search operations began Monday in Poonch district’s border villages after intelligence indicated possible movement of terror suspects.
Around midday, multiple security teams entered the forested highlands of Jhotian Wali, Dhook Dhoba and nearby areas in Mehrote, Surankote sub-division. The searches, conducted by the army’s 16 RR and 37 RR units together with the J&K Police SOG, continued into the evening. Officials said the operation follows a hunt that started on September 2 targeting suspected militants in the region.
