Selangor to Roll Out Mega NUTRISEL Program Covering Over 900,000 Students
The Selangor state government will launch a large-scale NUTRISEL initiative this month, reaching more than 900,000 pupils across over 900 schools.
Selangor's government is set to launch the Mega Nutrisi Selangor (NUTRISEL) initiative in the middle of the month, extending food assistance to more than 900,000 students in over 900 schools statewide. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the expansion tests a universal model compared with the earlier version that served selected recipients. An extra RM2 million has been allocated, allowing the inclusion of milk, bread and other products in the aid kits.
The program, which runs from August to October 2026 with a total budget of RM12.6 million, is coordinated through local authorities and the State Economic Planning Unit. At a recent ceremony in Kuala Langat, 746 NUTRISEL packs containing bread, water, nasi lemak, fruit and a portable fan were handed out to students. So far, the scheme has benefited 8,616 pupils across 78 schools in the district, and a total of 104,640 recipients across various education departments and religious schools. The initiative aims to ease the financial strain on B40 families while improving student nutrition and concentration.
