Selena Gomez and Mother Sued Over Alleged Investor Fraud at Wondermind
Selena Gomez and her mother Mandy Teefey are being sued for allegedly deceiving investors about their mental-health startup Wondermind, which the suit says collapsed while they hid its problems.
Investors behind Wondermind SRS 44 LLC and Bespoke Wondermind LLC have filed a lawsuit against Selena Gomez, her mother Mandy Teefey, Wondermind Global and former partner Daniella Pierson, alleging they were misled into contributing $1.2 million in September 2022. The filing contends the defendants misrepresented the startup’s operational capacity, leadership and profit potential, and that Gomez failed to perform a contractual marketing role despite her extensive public platform.
It further asserts the app was never created, the business quietly collapsed for three years, and Teefey concealed the downturn while allegedly battling a substance-abuse problem. Emails cited in the suit show Teefey deflecting investor questions and referring them to Gomez’s legal team. The investors also say Wondermind exaggerated celebrity interest, naming figures such as Camila Cabello and Tim Cook, which never materialized. The case seeks recovery of the investment, damages for securities fraud, costs and a jury trial.
