Seminary teacher arrested for raping minor; anti-corruption raids net bribe takers and accidents claim lives in Punjab

In the Kot Shakir police area of Athara Hazari tehsil, Jhang, officers arrested a teacher from Madressah Hameedul Islam after a 12-year-old resident student alleged he was sexually assaulted; a medical examination confirmed the rape. The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) in Jhang conducted raids that resulted in the detention of patwari Malik Mujahid Iqbal, who had demanded Rs4.2 million from Dr Sajjad Ali Akbar for a land transfer, and Wasa inspector Zahid Iqbal, who sought Rs20,000 from Asad Ali to reduce a sewerage bill, with marked currency recovered from both.
In Faisalabad, a collision between two motorcycles near Chak 275-JB caused the immediate death of 20-year-old Ashir Munir and critically injured his two companions, brothers Huzaifa (17) and Muawia (16), who were taken to Allied Hospital. Additionally, 26-year-old Muhammad Imran drowned while fishing near Kot Islam Headworks in Kabirwala tehsil, and rescue teams recovered his body.
