Senate Deputy Speaker Linked to Abortion Funding Promotion at Controversial Clinic
A social media post by the abortion-rights group Dream Team promoted a Warsaw clinic, urging supporters to pay for an abortion and referencing Senate Deputy Speaker Magdalena Biejat as having done so.
On Monday, the abortion-rights collective Dream Team shared a promotional message for its Warsaw "clinic" situated across from the Sejm, inviting supporters to stay late, pay for an abortion, and leave wearing a hoodie that reads "I support women's rights and women's wrongs." The post featured a photograph of Magdalena Biejat, a Senate Deputy Speaker from the Left, accompanied by a statement that she had paid for an abortion.
The clinic's location was deliberately chosen to remind legislators of the abortion-rights debate, and it has faced ongoing protests from anti-abortion groups. In 2025, the Catholic Medical Association had previously questioned the clinic’s compliance with Polish law. Under current legislation, abortions are legal only when the woman's life or health is at risk or when there is a justified suspicion of pregnancy resulting from a crime, and providing assistance beyond these cases can lead to criminal charges.
