Senate impeachment court calls a strategic pause before resuming Duterte trial

The Senate impeachment court announced the cancellation of Wednesday's hearing in Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment case, describing the interruption as a strategic procedural pause. Attorney Regie Tongol clarified that the pause stems from the court’s rapid progress, noting that six witnesses have already testified in an eight-day span since the trial began on September 14. The hiatus is intended to give both prosecution and defense panels breathing room before a series of marathon sessions slated from October 1 to October 15, each running from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday’s session will commence at 10 a.m. The upcoming evidence will involve highly technical and voluminous financial records provided by the Anti-Money Laundering Council.
