Senate impeachment court subpoenas AMLC chief and local officials in Duterte wealth probe

During the ongoing impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte, the Senate impeachment court issued subpoenas to key witnesses. AMLC chief Ronel Buenaventura is scheduled to appear between October 1 and 2, while Davao City Register of Deeds IV Kathy Florence Baldonado and City of Samal Deputy Register of Deeds III Marco Pineda will testify about land parcels in Matina and Island Garden City registered to Duterte's spouse, Manases Carpio.

Presiding officer Francis "Chiz" Escudero highlighted that the trial is now focusing on Article 2, which alleges failure to disclose assets and to divest business holdings from 2022 through 2025. The couple's declared net worth rose to over P98 million in 2025, marking an 11.46% increase from the previous year, with total assets climbing 24.72%. The subpoenas cover the period from September 30 to October 2, aiming to clarify the source of the wealth increase.
