The bill was authored by AUR senator Corneliu Negru, who highlighted the need to align representation ratios with population data from the National Institute of Statistics.
In the lower house, deputies have proposed establishing a working group comprising all committees to create a legal framework acceptable to all parliamentary actors. Additional bills in the Chamber of Deputies also target the same reduction in parliamentary seats.
