Senator Fetterman says Democrats now welcome anti-Israel views over pro-Israel stance

At one outlet Festival in Austin, Sen. John Fetterman argued that the Democratic Party’s “big tent” now more readily embraces statements such as “America deserved 9/11” than it does members who proudly back Israel. He referenced a 2019 livestream by Hasan Piker, noting the attention the comment received as evidence of shifting enthusiasm on the left. Fetterman highlighted a Pew Research Center poll showing a sharp rise in unfavorable views of Israel among Democrats.

He also pointed to recent Senate resolutions that blocked a $295 million bulldozer sale and a $151.8 million bomb sale to Israel, while noting that aid for Israel’s Iron Dome was not targeted. The senator warned he would leave the party if it officially became anti-Israel, and DNC Chair Ken Martin later condemned Piker’s remarks while distancing the party from them.
