Senator John Curtis urges Senate panel to subpoena Trump Jr. and Hunter Biden

Utah Republican Senator John Curtis has formally asked the Senate Judiciary Committee to launch an inquiry into Donald Trump Jr. and Hunter Biden, seeking to uncover any misuse of presidential family connections for financial gain. In a letter to Chairman Chuck Grassley, Curtis highlighted recent allegations that Trump Jr. accepted an extravagant wedding after-party from a Russian oligarch, raising questions about foreign influence.

He asserts that the investigation should assess whether existing ethics, disclosure or anti-corruption statutes apply and propose reforms to prevent private enrichment of presidential relatives. Curtis also urges inclusion of Hunter Biden, referencing ongoing Republican probes into the Biden family's business activities in Ukraine and China. Emphasizing parity, he warns that differing standards for Republican and Democratic families could erode public confidence and create security vulnerabilities. The Judiciary Committee has not yet indicated whether it will act before the Senate adjourns for the midterm election period.
