Senator Lacson accuses DPWH chief of covering up alleged Taguig ghost projects

During a radio interview, Senator Panfilo Lacson cautioned Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon that concealing alleged ghost projects in Taguig could render him criminally liable, at minimum as an accessory. Lacson noted that reporters could not access the DPWH website when he tried to verify details he had presented to a Senate committee, and Dizon later asserted the site was not down. The senator has submitted his investigative report to the Office of the Ombudsman, which may examine possible plunder, malversation, or anti-graft violations.

Lacson cited a project whose geotagged images placed it in the Visayas, questioning the authenticity of the Taguig work, and mentioned that DPWH teams had inspected 68 flagged projects. He also referenced a similar pattern of nonexistent projects being covered by new constructions in other regions. Dizon reportedly called to apologize and sought to clarify his earlier statements, claiming he was set up.
