Senator Lacson cites 170-hectare Taguig lake encroachment, Cayetano accuses him of bias

In a radio interview, Senator Panfilo Lacson highlighted that the Philippine Reclamation Authority identified 13 titles that still cover water, amounting to 170 hectares of alleged illegal encroachment on Laguna Lake within Taguig City. He noted this represents about one-third of the 560 hectares reclaimed across Rizal and Laguna, and said he would assist the Office of the Ombudsman and other agencies in probing the matter.

Shortly after, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano went live on Facebook from the lake, saying he was with children and condemning Lacson for what he called a malicious, selective focus on Taguig. Cayetano argued that other "ghost" projects across the Philippines have escaped scrutiny and suggested the criticism should not be limited to his jurisdiction. The exchange reflects an ongoing feud between the two senators over alleged corruption in local infrastructure projects. No response from Cayetano’s office was available at the time of reporting.
